Dr Emma Merkling

I am an art historian working on late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century British art and history of science. My focus is on women artists, ecology, alternative science, spiritualism, and occultism. I am a 2023/24 Wallace Fellow at I Tatti, Harvard University; and Deputy Associate Director of Research at Durham University’s Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies International.
